Indian weddings are a perfect blend of rituals, customs, traditions and ceremonies. Amidst the series of these serious rituals & traditions is lot of fun that everyone looks forward to. Indian weddings are known mostly for its diverse culture and variety of food. Catering has always been the most wanted and favourite part of an Indian wedding. Indian wedding caterers have an enormous range of dishes. Traditional Indian wedding catering is all about some snacks, main course & desserts which are limited to the religion or culture of the family. However, with changing times and demands current Indian wedding catering includes a variety of cuisines. Today you can find dishes from across the boundaries of religion, culture and country. Indian wedding catering today has a mix of Chinese, Italian, South Indian, Punjabi & Mughlai cuisine. You would find yourself lost in the variety of dishes each cuisine has to offer you in Indian weddings.

To create an authentic yet different menu for your wedding is indeed a difficult job. Everyone wants to do something different on their wedding. Be it the venue, the theme or the catering menu. Since catering is the most important part of Indian weddings the choice of dishes is extremely vital to create a perfect wedding catering menu. You may find Asian wedding caterers offering you different types of cuisine for a wedding. Do not get confused with the options they have to offer at the same times you must ensure that your Indian wedding caterer delivers the same quality of food at your wedding as that of the one you had during your food tasting session. It is a possibility that caterer might offer you the best quality food just to bag your event and on the day could be least bothered to maintain the same level of service and quality of food that was promised. An ideal Asian wedding catering menu is a selection of 3-4 types of canapés during cocktail reception with a selection of 4-5 types of starters & main course dishes. You can have 2-3 types of desserts in your menu. This should be a mix of vegetarian & non vegetarian dishes. For your canapés you can have an item of Chinese, south Indian, Punjabi & Mughlai each. It is best if the canapés are floating during the drinks reception rather than served on buffet units. Floating canapés would ensure maximum enjoyment to your guests at a cocktail reception as they would not have to queue up for the delicious food you have to offer. As for the starters it is best if you select food items that are served hot. Because it is always better to offer something hot on the platter after the cocktail reception where your guests have enjoyed chilled beverages and canapés. You can select a variety of vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes. Try not to repeat the same flavour for main course. For example do not have a fish or prawn dish in the main course if it has already been served as one of your canapés or starters. Instead you can serve your guests with chicken or lamb delicacies. It is the responsibility of your wedding caterer to educate you on the different types of cuisines and dishes that you can include in your wedding catering menu. Offering desserts on a buffet can be a good idea. You can select one hot and cold dessert from Indian cuisine and one dessert could be either an ice cream or a cake/pastry of your choice. So creating an Asian wedding catering menu is not as simple as it might look. You must spend time to carefully select the dishes and design a different yet reasonable menu. Selecting the right Asian wedding caterer would make your wedding memorable not only for you but also for all your guests. With the number of Asian caterers in the market you might find yourself in a difficult position to judge who is the best as per your needs and requirements. Hence, pick up an Indian catering company who has proven record of catering Indian food to weddings and functions.
