- What type of wedding venues can I choose from?
There are hundreds of wedding venues to choose from in England alone. The traditional venues are those such as Hotels, Country Estates, Castles, Banqueting Suites and Marquees. Quirkier locations are available now, you can get married in a film studio or at the zoo. The location is one of the most important decisions you have to make, so do your research and select a venue which will ensure a memorable and successful day.
- How long before my wedding should I start searching for a wedding venue?
As soon as you decide to get married, you should start researching possible venues. This will give you more options for dates especially if you are planning a summer wedding or would like to book a bank holiday weekend date. Ideally the venue and date should be confirmed approx. 12 months in advance. - Are there any common pitfalls I should avoid when searching for a wedding venue?
Firstly, be realistic about your budget for the venue and what will be provided for you by the venue in the venue hire. Know what you want from the venue, is it a location for the wedding reception or will it host a ceremony too? If you would like to have your civil ceremony on the same day, ensure the venue has a license and the facilities to accommodate the different parts of the day. Keep in mind the number of guests you are inviting, should guest numbers increase, your venue needs to be able to accommodate them. - Will my wedding venue also provide a wedding catering service?
Most venues will have an in-house catering team who can provide you with a choice of menus. However is you wish to serve a speciality cuisine, you must ensure that the venue allows outside caterers. The outside caterers you select will have to comply with the requirements of the venue in terms of public liability insurance, health and safety, risk assessments and HACCP. - Can Curry Special recommend any good wedding venues?
